Default GW2 and additional character slots questions

I am going to work on a number of assumptions here:

Firstly GW2 will come with 4 character slots and secondly, once the account is linked to a current GW account, names are reserved and rewards stored in the hall of monuments will be able to be collected by new characters (same name or not)

Now For those of us with 3 linked campaigns and additional character slots purchased, that could mean 10+ characters - will we gain any benefit from having purchased character slots or do we have to purchase them again? (I think I can guess the answer here). Should we, or will we be able to load all stored achievements onto one or two new characters or will it be a one to one link?

I for one would like to see additional character slots provided free for those who have already purchased them. I have no intention of purchasing additional character slots up to my current number at release of GW2 and if it follows the same format of 2 add slots per linked expansion (assuming a new expansion every 12 months) it is could take a VERY long time before I can finally fully utilise all of the stored achievements.

Any thoughts or comments?

I like to imagine that GW2 will come with at least four slots also.

I expect that we have to purchase new slots, though, because you're storing new data on that space. It would only make sense to give you free slots if you were transferring empty GW1 slots to GW2, but that seems like too much trouble.

With achievements, it sounds to me like a 1:1 basis with all the talk of inheritance.

I personally don't mind buying more slots because I'd be making new characters; my previous slots are 1) already used and 2) purchased for GW1.

The inheritance idea is pretty inspiring for character creation ideas (thinking of creating descendants of GW1 characters or other imaginary "relation") so I'd be glad to see achievements unlock on a 1:1 basis. However, I would like to think that any minis or items that are unlocked via the Hall of Monuments can be traded to your other characters via storage as in GW1.

Also, I don't expect Expansions to come with 2 new slots like Campaigns did. That would be fantastic though (GW:EN and GW2)!

You can assume two things:

a) Nslots = Mprimaries - 2

Anet learning nothing and players being told to buy more accounts if we to play em all ... yadada, yadada, all that stuff.

OR

b) Nslots = Nprimaries + 1

Anet realizing that sizeable amount of players wants to play and experience each of primary thing (whether its profession or race is irrelevant ...) and would enjoy wildcard slot for PvP char, experiment or just plain mule.

Also, that would kinda prevent "N+2 classes + PvP vs. N slots" problem we had with GW1.

---

I in no way would expect puchased slots transfered to GW2 ... they were bought for GW1, thats it.

Why not have it like wow where you have basically no char limit.

That would be the only thing good that theyd have copied...
